Driven by iPhone, 5G mobile phone sales account for more than 4G mobile phones
Driven by the iPhone, the mobile phone industry set a new milestone in January 2022: For the first time, sales of mobile phones using 5G technology accounted for more than half of global smartphone sales. 5G phones account for 51 percent of sales, according to Counterpoint Research.

U.S. chip designer Qualcomm has so far largely dominated the business, with its Snapdragon system-on-a-chip that integrates a processor and modem into a single module.
