Samsung is working on a new smartwatch. The smartwatch is actually called the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active. The watch has already been seen in various renders and is said to be codenamed “Pulse”. This Galaxy Sport has now received FCC certification and moving towards its launch. It is said to be the successor of the Samsung Gear Sport watch, which was unveiled last year. The development of the SM-R500 model started earlier in December last year with R500XXE0ARL5 being the initial software version.
The watch has already been seen in various renders pointing to a brand new Samsung smartwatch with a fitness focus, one that we’re tentatively referring to as the Galaxy Watch Sport. But now it looks like we have an official name.
Reliable leaker Max J says the smartwatch is actually called the Samsung Galaxy Active. Active is the brand Samsung uses for the more rugged versions of its Galaxy smartphones.
Now that its smartwatch and smartphone lines share the same Galaxy name, this makes perfect sense.
