So the triple rear camera is a trend now. Huawei kicked it off, Samsung embraced it as well. Apple’s going to launch their 2019 iPhones with 3 rear cameras and now OnePlus is joining the trend as well. OnePlus 7 Pro camera configuration has been leaked and it shows a pretty good setup.
We’ve heard in the past that the OnePlus 7 Pro will feature a triple rear camera setup, but today we have a leak that shows the configuration of those cameras.
OnePlus 7 Pro camera configuration
It comes from Max J, who’s one of the trust-able sources for unreleased phones says the phone will have a 48MP main camera, an 8MP telephoto with 3X optical zoom and f/2.4 aperture. The third camera will be of a 16MP ultrawide lens with f/2.2.
A slightly different leak today:— Max J. (@Samsung_News_) April 20, 2019
The #OnePlus7Pro will feature three rear cams:
1. 48MP Main Lens
2. 8MP Telephoto Lens w/ 3x zoom F/2.4
3. 16MP Ultra-Wide Lens F/2.2

The configuration looks nice on paper but we are afraid this setup, coupled with the curved AMOLED 90Hz display will drive up the bill of material of this smartphone. And honestly, it’s a gamble that OnePlus is taking by releasing an expensive smartphone. They’re known for their affordable flagships so it will be interested to see whether or not people would spend around $750 for a OnePlus device.
OnePlus 7 could launch in all of the major US carriers
So it looks like OnePlus is looking to bring the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro to all of the major US carriers. Some people have found job openings on OnePlus’s website that mentions every major US carrier.
OnePlus 6T was the first OnePlus phone to launch on a US carrier which was T-Mobile. So if this report indeed pans out then it will give OnePlus phones extra exposure which means OnePlus phones will be easier to buy in the US which also helps OnePlus get more market share.
OnePlus enters into the top 5 premium smartphone brands
So OnePlus managed to break into the top five global brands in the premium category for the very first time. According to figures from Counterpoint Research, OnePlus took the number 5 spot. It’s interesting to note that it is coming at the same time the company is making it into the top 5 rankings in the US in the same category. That said, Apple is in the lead globally with a 51% market share, with Samsung coming in second with 22%. Note that these figures don’t include the Galaxy S10 just yet since the only reflect last year’s numbers.
Anyway, Huawei and OPPO are ay the number 3 and 4 respectively followed by OnePlus at number 5. By the way, it’s for the premium segment which doesn’t the midrange and budget phones. If we consider the overall smartphones, Samsung is at the top, followed by Huawei and Apple. And OnePlus isn’t even in the top 10. In any case, this is an amazing feat for OnePlus and I hope entering the top 5 premium segment doesn’t make them enter the top 5 in the first place.
