Full blood M1 blessing! Apple iPad Air 5 benchmark exposure: performance is basically the same as iPad Pro

Published

on

According to foreign media macrumors, the benchmark results of the new iPad Air show that Apple did not reduce the frequency of the M1 chip and artificially limit the performance of the device.

According to Geekbench 5 results, the M1 chip in the fifth-generation iPad Air has the same 3.2GHz operating frequency as the iPad Pro. Therefore, the performance of the M1 iPad Air is almost identical to that of the M1 iPad Pro.

Specifically, the average single-core and multi-core scores of the M1 iPad Air are around 1,700 and 7,200, respectively. These scores confirm that the M1 iPad Air performs on par with the M1 iPad Pro while being about 60% to 70% faster than the fourth-generation iPad Air with the A14 Bionic chip.

First introduced in the MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro and Mac mini in November 2020, the M1 chip features an 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine. This chip powers the new iPad Air with 8GB of unified memory.

Notably, the A15 Bionic chip in the sixth-generation iPad mini has dropped to 2.9GHz, compared to 3.2GHz for the A15 in other devices like the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The downclocking chip caused the iPad mini to be about 2% to 8% slower than the iPhone 13 model.

According to internal sources in the mobile phone industry, a certain part of Europe has been fined 5 million euros per week since New Year’s Day this year because Apple has been failing to comply with relevant regulations. To a fine of 45 million euros, the equivalent of RMB has exceeded 300 million yuan!

The fine, which lasted more than two months, was due to the fact that Apple charged up to 30% of the commission in the payment system, which is also known as the exorbitant “Apple tax”. Many software developers in Europe have filed lawsuits against Apple many times before, and began to sue Apple in the name of “anti-monopoly” in the Apple Store.

Apple has drafted an agreement with the relevant departments this week to try to stop the departure, but it cannot stop the pace of continuing to be fined. Once the cumulative fine reaches 50 million euros, the weekly fine will be higher.

The world that Steve Jobs laid down… don’t destroy it in the hands of this generation.

Although at present, Apple Watch Series 3 still supports the latest WatchOS 8 system, but there have been hardware problems such as insufficient storage space, which means that it will be difficult to run the WatchOS 9 system that will be launched later.

In addition, the design of Apple Watch Series 3 has gradually failed to keep up with the times. In the Apple Watch product line, it is the last product with a large bezel instead of a full-screen design.
