FaceTime for Apple’s AR/VR headset may support memoji and simulcast sharing

Memojis (memoji) and SharePlay (simulcast sharing) may be the FaceTime for Apple’s long-rumored mixed reality headset, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman reported by Macrumors core of the experience.

Gurman, who has often given accurate insights into Apple’s plans, has previously said that Apple’s mixed reality headset will focus on gaming, media consumption, and communications. Rumor has it that the helmet itself will run “rOS” or “realityOS,” internally codenamed “Oak.” In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman clarified his expectations for FaceTime in a real-world operating system, suggesting that it could revolve around two of the company’s existing experiences — Memojis and SharePlay.

“I imagine a virtual reality version of FaceTime where you can be in a conference room with dozens of people. You don’t see their real faces, but their 3D versions (Memojis). I think the headset will be able to determine in real-time. A person’s facial expressions and a fairly realistic experience. I’m also looking forward to the heavy use of SharePlay in the new OS, allowing multiple headset wearers to experience music, movies, and games together.”

Since 2017, there has been news that Apple is developing realityOS, but recently in the App Store upload log and Apple’s public source code, information about the operating system was found, which finally confirmed the existence of the system.

Apple introduced Memojis in iOS 12 in 2018, and SharePlay is a new feature added in a recent update to iOS 15.1. There is speculation that many of the new features Apple has released in recent years, such as ARKit, AR walking navigation in Apple Maps, spatial audio with dynamic head tracking, and LiDAR scanners, will be used in its long-term mixed-reality headsets allow the company to familiarize users with some of the headset’s actions more quickly. Memoji and SharePlay could also be part of this strategy.

According to internal sources in the mobile phone industry, a certain part of Europe has been fined 5 million euros per week since New Year’s Day this year because Apple has been failing to comply with relevant regulations. To a fine of 45 million euros, the equivalent of RMB has exceeded 300 million yuan!

The fine, which lasted more than two months, was due to the fact that Apple charged up to 30% of the commission in the payment system, which is also known as the exorbitant “Apple tax”. Many software developers in Europe have filed lawsuits against Apple many times before, and began to sue Apple in the name of “anti-monopoly” in the Apple Store.

Apple has drafted an agreement with the relevant departments this week to try to stop the departure, but it cannot stop the pace of continuing to be fined. Once the cumulative fine reaches 50 million euros, the weekly fine will be higher.

The world that Steve Jobs laid down… don’t destroy it in the hands of this generation.

Although at present, Apple Watch Series 3 still supports the latest WatchOS 8 system, but there have been hardware problems such as insufficient storage space, which means that it will be difficult to run the WatchOS 9 system that will be launched later.

In addition, the design of Apple Watch Series 3 has gradually failed to keep up with the times. In the Apple Watch product line, it is the last product with a large bezel instead of a full-screen design.
