DxOMark is the familiar industry standard for image quality measurements and assessments of cameras, lenses, and smartphones. The organization conducts the DxOMark Selfie and DxOMark Mobile tests according to a scientific protocol using industrial tools.
In this way, DxOMark provides consumers with reliable test data on the performance of smartphone cameras. DxOMark allocates sub-scores for the photo and video quality and then combines them into an overall score. The higher the score, the better the image quality.
New is the Selfie ranking. Mobile phones are no longer tested for their overall image quality, and a distinction is now made between the camera (s) that are placed at the front and rear. Within the selfie rankings, the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus comes in at number 1, with a score of 96 points is the best selfie phone ever. The plus model has a Dual Pixel selfie camera and a second RGB depth camera.
The triple camera on the back also scores high. With a score of 109 points, the S10 Plus gets the shared number 1 position in this list. The camera test included the exposure and contrast, color, autofocus, texture, noise, artifacts, flash, stabilization (for video), zoom and bokeh.
For the camera on the back, the number 1 position has to be shared with formidable competitor Huawei. Both the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and the Huawei P20 Pro have achieved the same test score. It is therefore still questionable how long the Samsung S10 Plus can continue to supply this
The P30 Pro will have a quad camera with zoom functionality. Chances are that this high-end smartphone will achieve an even higher score. Whether this is also the best selfie phone remains to wait, about the front camera is still significantly less known.
